Balon D'or : Real Winner Revealed

If the award were determined by goals scored in a calender year, then a certain English man would have been crowned winner. His hat-trick on Tuesday would have seen  the striker crowned winner. However his feat has won him what we will call the "Goal Balon D'or"

The striker in question is Harry Kane and his winning strikes came in his hattrick vs Southampton. Having previously scored a hat-trick in Saturday's 3-0 win over Burnley to move to 53 goals for club and country in the calendar year, Kane bagged another three goals on Boxing Day at Wembley.

Heading into the match Kane was one goal behind Barcelona superstar Messi, who earlier that day scored a penalty in his final game of 2017 – a 3-0 defeat of Real Madrid in the Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Kane moved level with Messi on 54 goals by heading his first against the Saints at Wembley –  breaking Alan Shearer's record of 36 Premier League goals in one year in the process.

And a stunning 12 months for the 24-year-old was capped off with a further two efforts either side of half-time in the 5-2 victory, and Kane is delighted to be mentioned in the same breath as the Barcelona forward and his Real Madrid arch-rival, Cristiano Ronaldo.
With his 56 goals in the year 2017, Harry Kane becomes the first winner of the ''Goal Balon D'or".
