Russia FIFA World Cup 2018 draw: When , How and Why!

With the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup  minutes away, we take another look at the seeded teams and their various pots and explain how it works.

When is the draw?

The big draw will be held on FRIDAY - December 1, 2017.
It will take place from 3pm (UK time), live and direct from the Kremlin.
The draw will decide the group stages for the tournament which runs from June 14 to July 15, 2018.

How does the it work?

The teams have been divided into four pots owing to their current Fifa ranking.
Hosts Russia will be in Pot 1 alongside the top seven sides.
Teams from the various pots forms are drawn into 8 groups(A to H) of 4 teams.
To respect geographical locations, teams from the same Federation are not placed in one group.
The exception to the above are European teams which must not be more than two in a group.
