Sterling's Abuser In Hot Waters

Black English footballer Raheem Sterling, 23, was reportedly kicked and racially abused as he arrived at City's Etihad complex before Saturday's match against Tottenham Hotspur.

A man has been charged with an alleged racist attack on the Manchester City player who has been mercurial all season.

Greater Manchester Police said 29-year-old Karl Anderson had been charged with racially aggravated common assault.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
In a statement after the suspect was nailed, Greater Manchester Police said they were treating the incident as a "hate crime".
The statement read: "On Monday, December 18, 2017 a report was made to police after a 23-year-old man was subjected to a racially aggravated assault on Clayton Lane in Manchester on Saturday, December 16.

"An investigation was launched and a 29-year-old man was arrested earlier this morning, Tuesday, December 19, 2017, on suspicion of racially aggravated assault."

Kick It Out, football's equality body, said it had been in touch with Sterling to offer him support.
