Mourinho explains row with Conte

As the war of words between Antonio Conte and Mourinho continues, eyes and ears never leave their press conferences and mouths keep asking: Who will sheath the sword and be the peacemaker?

That question met a big No from Jose Mourinho in his press conference, and he even employed the word "contempt" in his assessment of the situation.

He said: “I think when a person insults another, you can expect a response. Or you can expect contempt, silence.

Acknowledging his success in the spat, the mind games manager continued by indicating how hurtful his words are:

The first time he insulted me I had a response, a response that I know that touched the point where he really feels hurt.

Then he insulted me for a second time, but now I change and now [I feel] contempt and for me, contempt means: end of the story.”

Chelsea came out tops when both sides met in their first Premier League meeting of 2017-18, winning 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.
We anticipate the meeting of these coaches in the return fixture at Old Trafford in February, with Conte expressing his readiness for a showdown.
